Cookie policy

Cookies are small text files stored on a browser or device. Similar technologies can include local storage, pixels, scripts, tags and device identifiers. They may remember a preference, keep a website secure, measure performance or support a third-party service.

The website may use the following categories:

Non-essential cookies and similar technologies are not activated until a visitor has made an appropriate choice. The consent banner shown on first visit allows categories to be accepted or rejected, and that choice can be changed at any time using "Manage cookie preferences" in the site footer.

Strictly necessary cookies currently in use include a security/session cookie for the admin area and a cookie that remembers your consent choice itself.

Analytics cookies currently in use are Google Analytics (page views and how the site is used) and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and anonymised session recordings showing how visitors interact with pages). Both are switched off by default and only load once analytics consent has been given through the cookie banner.

No advertising or measurement cookies are currently active on the site; that category is ready and will be used if any are switched on in future. Embedded content (such as the map tools on quote/design pages) may set its own cookies from the third party providing that feature.

Ask REST chat assistant (browser storage): If you use the Ask REST assistant, your conversation is saved in your browser's local storage for up to 2 hours so you can pick up where you left off if you refresh the page or leave it by accident. It stays on your device and is not sent to us. It is removed automatically after 2 hours, or sooner if you choose "Start over" or submit your details through the assistant. The assistant also remembers, for the current browser session only, whether you have minimised it. This storage is used only to provide the chat you have asked for, so it is treated as strictly necessary and is not affected by your cookie choices. Where analytics consent has been given, the contents of the chat window are masked from Microsoft Clarity session recordings.

The consent choice cookie is kept for up to 12 months. Cookie duration for any other technology varies from a browser session to a longer fixed period depending on its purpose. Third-party providers (such as Google Maps) may set their own technologies and act under their own privacy notices.
